Luxtera Joins the Ethernet Alliance

Luxtera Inc., the world leader in CMOS Photonics, today announced it has joined the Ethernet Alliance, an industry-led organization committed to the success and expansion of Ethernet technology. Luxtera’s CMOS Photonics technology breaks cost barriers faced by existing optical transceiver technologies, enabling wide adoption of high-performance optical interconnect as an economically viable alternative to legacy low-performance copper interconnects. As a member of this Ethernet Alliance, Luxtera promotes CMOS Photonic technology for Ethernet applications to significantly decrease associated costs while increasing performance. Full Story
Luxtera is an important partner with Sun for future HPC technologies. In the first phase of the DARPA EPIC contract, Luxtera met the technical objectives set by DARPA by developing technology to multiplex four 10Gbps wavelengths onto a single fiber, on a production CMOS die – resulting in a single fiber all CMOS 40Gbps link. In cooperation with Sun Microsystems, Luxtera demonstrated this EPIC Phase 1 device at the Sun booth during SC2006 in Tampa, Florida, in November, 2006.

About Rich
FlexRex began his life as a cartoon character I created a Sun Microsystems. As the world's first "fictional blogger," he appeared in numerous parody films that made fun of the whole work-from-home thing. Somewhere along the line, the Sun IT department adopted FlexRex as their spokesman in a half-dozen security awareness films for employees. So when I left Sun recently, I started FlexRex Communications, a Marketing company in Portland, Oregon.
