HPC Watercooler marks 1000 entries

The HPC Watercooler reached an interesting milestone the week with it’s 1000th entry. That’s a lot of stories, but I think it’s testament to the incredible momentum Sun is gaining in the HPC space these days.
Thinking back to before I started the Watercooler in 2005, I remember there was a lot of discussion about how we should try to get Jonathan Schwartz to blog about HPC. And it seemed to me that it was simple; all we had to do was win some big deals.
And now that we have installed TACC Ranger, I think it’s only fitting that our 1000th story wound up being about Jonathan’s blog and all the wonderful things he had to say about Sun’s biggest supercomputer yet.
So, where do we go from here? Well, now that we’ve started up the Sun HPC Community Portal, customers, Sun engineers, and partners are starting to blog about our high performance computing solutions. With that kind of parallel processing, the next thousand stories are just around the corner.

About Rich
FlexRex began his life as a cartoon character I created a Sun Microsystems. As the world's first "fictional blogger," he appeared in numerous parody films that made fun of the whole work-from-home thing. Somewhere along the line, the Sun IT department adopted FlexRex as their spokesman in a half-dozen security awareness films for employees. So when I left Sun recently, I started FlexRex Communications, a Marketing company in Portland, Oregon.
