Sun Breaks Into Top 500 Supercomputers List

The Top 500 Supercomputers list was announced this morning at the International Supercomputing Conference (ISC) in Dresden, Germany. Sun took the #4 position with its deployment of the Sun Constellation System at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) in Austin.
Other key Sun highlights:
* Based on the Sun Constellation System, TACC’s Ranger supercomputer is the highest ranking system built on an open architecture.
* Sun’s Lustre File System manages 6 of the top 10 systems and nearly half of the top 50 systems.
* Nearly half of the top 50 systems are archiving data on Sun storage.

About Rich
FlexRex began his life as a cartoon character I created a Sun Microsystems. As the world's first "fictional blogger," he appeared in numerous parody films that made fun of the whole work-from-home thing. Somewhere along the line, the Sun IT department adopted FlexRex as their spokesman in a half-dozen security awareness films for employees. So when I left Sun recently, I started FlexRex Communications, a Marketing company in Portland, Oregon.
